I'll turn a new page in my professional life by starting a new position as
Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Hanover College. Change is
exciting! Some people might be anxious about changing organizations, but
perhaps they simply haven't appreciated
Some of the Best
Things About Starting at a New College
- A fresh inbox! Sure, it won't stay empty long, but an empty inbox is right up there with the thrill of being the first person to dip a knife into the smooth surface of that freshly opened jar of Peter Pan.
- Don't bother taking out the trash! Those thousands of undeleted (many unread!) emails in my soon-to-be-former inbox? Just. Walk. Away.
- Renewable resources! Have you heard this one? No! Because people at the new place haven't heard all of my stories and jokes. Yet.
- OMG! I get to learn a whole new lexicon of institutional acronyms! Oh, wait, darn it.
- Solids and stripes! It's time to refresh my wardrobe with ties featuring the new school's colors. (Red and blue, by the way, and my birthday is coming up.)
- A clean slate! At my new school, no one remembers the time I … ah, you almost got me there …
- Spelling counts! I have the opportunity to teach a whole new group of people how to spell my unusually spelled name :-)
